Nakivo Backup and Replication v10.8 have been released, the latest version of the data protection software and it comes with new features and support for the latest technologies. As announced a couple of weeks ago, the software now supports vSphere 8.0. Additionally, it has a lightweight and fast web-based UI that is not slow like many other web-based software solutions. The new version 10.8 also brings some interesting improvements such as Job Merge, Job Priority, Improved backup retention with a possible switch to a simplified wizard, and New MSP console Improvements. The software can be installed directly on bare-metal servers, in a VM, or directly on selected NAS devices, supporting Windows and Linux OS for taking VM backups.
Nakivo Backup and Replication v10.8 is the most recent version of the data protection software, it offers a range of new features and compatibility with the latest technologies. One of the key features of this release is the support for vSphere 8, the most recent version of VMware’s virtualization technology. This allows users to safeguard their virtual machines running on vSphere 8 using the robust data protection features of Nakivo Backup and Replication. The software offers full and incremental backups, replication, and recovery of virtual machines, as well as advanced features such as application-aware processing and integration with object storage solutions.
Another advantageous feature is the ability to create backups of virtual machines running on vSphere 8 using Nakivo Backup and Replication Agent. The agent is a lightweight software component that runs directly on the virtual machine and communicates with the Nakivo Backup and Replication server to create backups. This feature is especially useful for safeguarding virtual machines that are running on remote sites or in the cloud, as it eliminates the need for a separate backup server. This feature was initially designed for physical systems, but it works in the same way for virtual machines. The backup files are created and managed by the Nakivo Backup server from a central location.
Nakivo Backup and Replication v10.8 now offers compatibility with S3-compatible object storage, making it simple for businesses to store and manage their backups in a highly scalable and cost-effective way. With this new feature, users have the ability to create backups of their virtual machines, physical servers, and workstations directly to S3-compatible object storage providers such as AWS S3, Wasabi, Minio, and more. This eliminates the need for costly and complex storage solutions and allows for easy scalability as storage needs increase.
S3-compatible object storage integration also enhances data protection and disaster recovery capabilities. Backups stored in object storage can be easily replicated to an alternate location, giving an extra layer of protection against data loss caused by hardware failure or natural disasters.
Furthermore, S3-compatible object storage has a versioning feature that allows storing multiple versions of a backup and can easily be retrieved in case of data corruption or accidental deletion.
In version 10.8, standalone instances of Nakivo can be added to the multi-tenant instance as remote tenants. This allows for easy monitoring and management of all tenants, both remote and local, from the same dashboard. Treat remote deployments as just another tenant and provide easy access to data protection activities and infrastructure components once added.
This version of Nakivo Backup and Replication provides comprehensive protection for virtual machines running on vSphere 8, with support for vSphere 8’s new storage features, the ability to create backups using the Nakivo Backup and Replication Agent, and enhancements to the user interface and reporting features, making it easier for administrators to protect their virtual machines and ensure the availability of their data.
The integration of S3-compatible object storage in this release provides a cost-effective, scalable, and secure solution for storing and managing backups, as well as the ability to take advantage of benefits such as versioning, easy scalability, and enhanced disaster recovery capabilities.
Nakivo Backup and Replication 10.8 has made improvements to its user interface and reporting features. Redesign the user interface to make it more user-friendly and intuitive, and improve the reporting features to provide more detailed and accurate information about backups and replicas. This makes it easier for administrators to monitor the status of their backups and replicas, and to identify and resolve any issues that may arise.
Additionally, Nakivo Backup and Replication 10.8 contains several other enhancements and bug fixes such as improved performance, better scalability, and support for new platforms and technologies.
Nakivo Backup and Replication v10.8 now has a new simplified wizard for configuring job schedules and retention settings in one step, in a single view. It allows you to specify retention settings for each schedule within a backup or replication job and set expiration dates for recovery points for more granular control.
The priority level for critical backup jobs can be set to be processed first in the queue to ensure timely completion. By default, assign jobs to the lowest priority level of 5, but you can assign priority levels 1-5 to prioritize high-priority jobs.
You can now restore directly from tape instead of having to restore to a staging repository first, resulting in a faster workflow.
The 10.8 version allows for merging jobs of the same type into a single job to simplify backup management and reduce time spent on routine tasks.
In version 10.8, the full capabilities of NAKIVO Backup & Replication can be accessed with just one click! Regardless of your current solution edition, you can now test out the Enterprise Plus edition for 15 days in your environment at no extra cost. Once the trial period is over, the solution will automatically switch back to your paid license and edition.
